does it affect the transfer rates one way or another? My cable connection is half-duplex, but i read somewhere that the latency created by up/downs is so small that it wouldn't make much difference comoared to full duplex connections. I noticed that *sometimes* my download rate is terribly affected when i'm uploading something. but that's not always the cause, as i usually get full speed dloads even when 3-4 ppl are leeching from me in full speed...

can anyone pls explain more on this? crowdirt, i know you're a pro in this sort of stuff :D

By definition half-duplex is a system capable of transmitting information in only one direction at a time over a communications channel.

So.. It is not possible to receive when sending and vice versa. You will have some latency over a full-duplex connnection, but yes... it's probably not all that noticable with just a few up/down connections.
