Port forwarding can be used to set up public services on your network. When users from the Internet make certain requests on your router, they will be redirected to the specified IP. (192.168.?.?) If you are going to use port 21 (FTP) In the router pass 20 and 21 to your 192.168.?.? In BPFTP select port 21. Also allow 20 and 21 in your firewall. Somtimes routers can be a major pain. Good luck. |
You need to setup your router to work with BPFTP. You have to provide some additional details if you need more help.
What kind of router is it? What OS are u running? You can contact me on MSN at sundaram316@msn.com if you need additional help |
ok
i thought it was working it was when i was testing it..but not when my friend was trying to send me stuff. ok 66.68.208.xxx is the IP and then internally its 192.168.1.100 (for my computer) and so on the server is on port 6796 I did the forwarding thing...but my friend can't connect and i said to toggle passive mode....na no worky http://home.rgv.rr.com/kingv1474/untitled.JPG did this too: http://home.rgv.rr.com/kingv1474/untitled2.jpg |
Try this!
Dont use an IP thru DHCP. Rather setup your network connection to use a static internal IP - 192.168.1.xx (2-99). Configure your tcp/ip settings in network connection to use this static IP. The setup port forwarding to the internal IP. That should do the trick! And I see that you have a Linksys router. I have the exact setup and I always had a problem when I setup my FTP server using a DHCP allocated IP address. I setup a static IP for my computer and it worked like a charm!!! |
the reason for the router was for DHCP
multiple laptops are in the house now... and they have to connect to other networks and stuff.. so we went for the router ..so eveyrone just plgus in and thats it. |
I have 4 computers at home all connecting to the internet using the Linksys router. All of them have static IP's and they have no problems connecting to the internet nor does anyone have any problems connecting to them!

i mean the other laptops settings cant be changed;
just plug in and go. |
