anyone have any potential ideas on how to FORCE WinXP Pro to remember folder settings?....i believe i have all the proper options checked, but some windows (ie. Control Panel), refuse to keep the settings i choose....like i want Icons to show, but it constantly resorts back to Details when i reopen the window
a couple of months ago i posted a similar message, and was advised to delete a bunch of Registry values/folders, but that didn't seem to work  |
I'm not sure if this will cure your problem, but it might be worth looking at.
My folders wouldn't hold their size properly, and this seemed to fix it. hxxp://www.jsiinc.com/SUBL/tip5800/rh5843.htm |
FYI, this solved my problem :D :
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> linney (TechnicalUser) Nov 4, 2002 h**p://www.tweakxp.com/tweakxp/default.asp ; Sometimes windows XP forgets it's folder view settings. Here is the solution. Backup these RegKeys. 1:[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell NoRoam\BagMRU] 2:[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell NoRoam\Bags] After that you must delete them. Restart windows to take effect. Now you can change each folder and the setting will stay. |
Ok, I am curious....:o
Is this a bug in Windows XP that hasn't been addressed even by the Service Pack 1 ? Because, this has never happened to me in Windows 98, Windows ME or in Windows 2000.... |
