Microsoft is after Bink's WinXP.nu site. The lawyers in Amsterdam got the papers from M$ that M$ wants to eradicate Bink's site. Look at it there!

Sounds to me like MS just wants the URL for a redirect. I hope he can afford to fight them because atleast in the US, a court would rule that Microsoft is not eligible to take it away from him. He is certainly not cybersquatting. WindowsXP.nu has been around for quite sometime.

Their forums were too much open for M$ leaks and most of the topics were asking how to crack this and that. I used to get hundreds of emails like that per day, when i accidently subscribed new posts to email. I think that's the reason..:(

It would be a great loss if Micro$haft managed to shut Bink's site down. I have been a member of his forum since the begining and although i am no longer active there i still get weekly reports just so i can keep an eye in.

I think this is just M$ trying to grab everything that has windows stamped on it, just like they told the makers of Windows Commander that they couldnt use the name windows on their product.

man. that sucks. i used to be an avid visitor of windowsxp.nu during the whole beta whistler builds. it would be a huge loss to have such a great community disappear.

Microsofts case was that they own the trademarks and logos, which he used on his site, and in his sites name, without their permission. It isnt a matter of cybersquatting.

Secondly, weather its legal or not is one matter, the other is that bink is defensless against a large orgainisation like Microsoft. A court battle against a company like Microsoft can go on for months even years for as long as they are prepared to spend money. I doubt a hobbyist running a site will be prepared to spend endless ammounts of money on his defence, and live in stress that he might lose and have to pay ALL of the legal fees, and possibly incurr other fines. Microsoft can ruin him financially without winning the court case. If Microsoft wants him to, he will surrender, simply because he has no choice. Its a sad fact, but thats how corrupt the legal system is when it comes to those matters. In the Netherlands. In the USA. Here in the UK. Everywhere.
