How can these things get passed a decent firewall?
In any case, that level of information on the computer can be obtained easily. When people visit my website, it knows what browser they use and OS, and of course IP's are logges so it only takes a second to search and see which range of IP's are from which ISP. |
It's just a "Hard Sell Advert" for evidence eliminator. Its designed to work by playing on a persons guilty conscience.
I wouldnt worry about the ad- but i would stop telling people you download "stuff" from the web  |
Thanks Flanderz,i thought it was something like that, but it gave me a bit of a shock seeing that for the first time,i allways keep norton personal firewall running.
|
IMO it's just some BS ad to sell their product, the only thing they are refering to is IE's index.dat file which is responsible for the typed url history, auto complete, etc.
All they are doing is trying to sell their product, your OS, browser, etc. is all recorded when you visit a website, for example, a typical line of this server's apache log files will show you OS, windows nt 5.1 which is XP, and the browser in the http header, ie6 in most cases, so, you have nothing to worry about |
Your right dog i just edited that part thanks.
Hey is there any better firewalls than norton personal firewall, because the other day i downloaded this nocd crack for doom3 and it ended up being a virus or trogen of some sort and the thing went and disabled norton personal firewall 2003 and anivirus 2003 while they was running, and i tryed to start norton back up to enable it and it was stuffed,i didnt think viruses were smart enough to go around and disable firewalls and anivirus programs, anyway i had to clean install to get rid of it. |
