What's a program that monitors all open connections to my computer, local and remote?
I restarted my computer, and get 3 addresses immediately trying to connect to me on port 3000 TCP X:3000 12-221-XXX-XXX.client.insightBB.com:4306 TIME_WAIT TCP X:3000 pXXXXAE34.dip.t-dialin.net:1303 TIME_WAIT TCP X:3000 NEW-199-XXX.tca.net:1756 TIME_WAIT I got that info with the crappy dos netstat command. Is there anything better? Currently running NAV 2003 and Pest Patrol 4. Any other options? I currently have a router/firewall. I really just want a program that will show open connections to my computer, no more bloatware. Does such a program exist? |
Hello Jedis :)
I use Connection Watcher that is part of a small suite of internet tools; go here for a description: *http://www.ostrosoft.com/ostronet/he...l/ostr1wdj.htm And you can also try looking at this predefined search if you want to check out some others: *http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&i...ection+watcher I dl'd and tried one from idyle software but it does not seem to work very well and its also ad supplied (ugh) freeware.... I am gonna stick with my Ostrosoft Tools :) Hope this helps some :) /JD |
Tried it...
Is it supposed to spam this? 12:41:13 AM TCP 127.0.0.1:3522 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING 12:41:13 AM TCP 127.0.0.1:3520 0.0.0.0:0 CLOSED 12:41:14 AM TCP 127.0.0.1:3524 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING 12:41:14 AM TCP 127.0.0.1:3522 0.0.0.0:0 CLOSED 12:41:15 AM TCP 127.0.0.1:3526 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING 12:41:15 AM TCP 127.0.0.1:3524 0.0.0.0:0 CLOSED 12:41:16 AM TCP 127.0.0.1:3528 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING 12:41:16 AM TCP 127.0.0.1:3526 0.0.0.0:0 CLOSED 12:41:17 AM TCP 127.0.0.1:3530 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING 12:41:17 AM TCP 127.0.0.1:3528 0.0.0.0:0 CLOSED 12:41:18 AM TCP 127.0.0.1:3532 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING It keeps going and going and going. Also says 67 active connections, but doesn't list anywhere near 67... |
Jedis,
Not sure what you mean about spam, shows open connections but I noticed that mine made a connection to ostrosoft website without me telling it to.... :o  Me is gonna investigate this a bit more ;) Those 127.0.0.1's are your localhost with the associated port numbers; if you want to show more than connections than what is displayed, hit the button next to the "stop" button on the upper right of the dialog box and change the properties, and OH MAN, you know what? I made a mistake, use the Netstat Tool instead of the connection watcher, but Oh hell, they look the same.... Better yet, lemme check these both out some more and then get back to you.... jeez oh man, sorry for the confusion....   I will check em out after I get some coffee in me ;) I am a little groggy right now....:) /JD EDit- Hmmm, seems that the connection watcher will give you a bit more info (such as kinds of packets sent, past connections, etc.) than the netstat one, which just shows what connections are active...perhaps some other members have experience with similar tools? |
