I installed Lindows 3.0 and have to congratulate them on a really fine distro. Very friendly and very "Windows like". But I think you must be a Lindows exclusive customer to use this, pay the annual fee and just use the software they provide It is clear that the hype about being windows compatible is Bull pucky. Just isn't true. WINE is a module you can run on any Linux distro. If you try to install Office XP, you get taken to a Lindows web page telling you to install Star Office--hey, what else?
I'm going back to Mandrake 9.0 on my Linux machine. I'm still unable to hook up the LAN. Dunno why. I guess I'm "slow". Lindows appears to be very up to date on the LAN problem--much like Lycoris is. But, this time around Lindows did not automatically mount the FAT partitions. I was surprised. |
It will get there I suppose.
Are these WallMart computers shipping with a Beta LindowsOS or what? Because this isn't the final thing is it? |
Yes this is it, now it just continues with updates and so on. But this is the final 3.0

You dont need to pay for the Click and Run to Get Lindows, I'm pretty sure thats a violation of Linux copyright.... its on the Site for download you just need to search for it, It does ask that you regester I used my hotmail addy and everything works fine,
I just wanna know if you can update the WINE in Lindows with the new distro of it |
To me the whole thing called Lindows is a complete violation of any free/open sourcecode bases

Can you guys tell me whether, i can install Windows XP under Linux (preferably Mandrake Linux 9.0) with this Lindows 3.0? then it will make my all pitass barriers to move to linux :)
thanks in advance.... :D |

However the current implementation only guarentees Office, Internet Explorer, and a few other apps. Very little software actually works under it. VMWare works exactly like Virtual PC. It emulates a computer, so you can put another OS on without repartitioning. PM me closer to the time you want it. |
With lindows 2.3 it is possible a "friendly install alongside windows". Yes, there is the option of installing lindows in a vfat (fat32) partition.
But with the new lindows 3.0 this option is no more żis it true? żor it is possible yet? Thanks |
