My WinXP box has a Asus V6800 GeForce DDR inside.
From time to time I get a BSOD where I can read a message linking the crash to a file named NV4_DISP.DLL which is part of the nVidia driver files. This happens since i installed XP, only when using standard apps and never in 3D games. I tried all the driver sets, official and leaked, from 14.xx to 21.xx, reinstalled XP often, but could not get rid of this $%&#$... Did anyone experienced this ?Any ideas ? ------------ Asus P3V4X + P3-600 EB Asus V-6800 GeForce DDR SBLive Value IBM 60 GB 7200 RPM [ October 28, 2001: Last edited by HamsterX ]
|
Wow. I'm not the only one. I get the same error. But it happens whenever it feels like it. In the middle of a 3d game. Even before a game starts. 2D games and even when watching DivX Movies. I don't know what is going on. Its getting annoying. I have no idea why it does this.
I have only tried the Det. Drivers all the way up to 21.85. Which ones have worked best for you? [b:5c2d2f7a98]EDIT:[/b:5c2d2f7a98] : I'm on a Geforce 2 MX 200 [ October 31, 2001: Last edited by Xcert ]
|
Ahm, another poor unlucky guy like me... So probably there are more like us but they're ashamed to say their PCs crash... :D :D :D
Well, this can be an issue specific specific of Asus cards... Xcert, do you have an Asus card too or is it another brand ? I can't say what driver is the better...Maybe the Asus 14.6x ones... but they're old ;) All they crash sooner or later, including the newest NVIDIA 22.50 released yesterday. ;) |
I don't have an Asus card. Its a Chain Tech??? Something like that. Here are my system specs.

Well, that seems the best to start.
This is what I found on the via hardware site that is somewhat related to our prob. h**p://bbs.pcstats.com/viahardware/messageview.cfm?catid=18&threadid=7670 This seems to happen with VIA K7V-T mobo's also??? There have been a couple post about geforce/VIA Chipset conflicts, but no fixes from what I can see. |

Does this sound familiar? =) |
Familiar... and confusing.
What about using the default WinXP GeForce Drivers (no OpenGL, I know) ? Just for a while, to see if it still crashes... And maybe we can tweak some BIOS settings too... Hmmm... lets try it? Before I forget, it looks like there's one more driver release: 22.40. Look at www.neowin.net [ November 01, 2001: Last edited by HamsterX ]
|
