That's cool, but you can do the same thing by hand in windows by having all your shorts in one folder inside say your documents folder and then creating a new toolbar [minimized] and have it point to the shortcut folder... No extra resources used that way...You get a pop-up window in your task bar with all your custom links. You can multilayer sub-folders that way too. That makes more sense to me if you want to clean off your desktop.
