BetaONE will rise again! - Office 11 Licensing Blues...

This has got to be one of the funniest easter eggs ive seen. When rumaging through the office 11 activation files I found some interesting text in MSO.DLL from Office 11 beta.

Looking at address 9BA3FO, it can be seen where all the strings within the file start, theres all the usual strings which come up in the activation wizard, but then theres:

You only have 3,000 grace boots before you computer blows up

hmmmm....

And then we have:

Quote:

Thank you. Yor Office.net subscription account has been created, and your copy of the software has been activated to run like it's 1999.

Or the extremely threataning, life endangering possibility of:

Quote:

If you choose not to renew your subscription at this time, you may run Office 36,000 more times before it enters viewer only mode.

Hehehe... whereas its not unusual for Microsoft Employees to sneak text in their products, like the infamous "Netscape Engineers are Weenies" in a past version of internet explorer, text which makes fun of their own licensing proceedure has got to say something....

Now, remind me... what was I doing with a hex editor and microsoft office files responsible for activation?
