I've made great strides with Mandrake 9.0. Samba is running on my system, but I still can't get Network Neighborhood to work or share printers. Man, it's frustrating. But still, Mandrake 9.0 is for me the most friendly distro I've tried so far. But gee, samba is a test of one's commitment. Anybody seen any good simple instruction sheets on setting up samba so Linux can hook into a Microsoft LAN?

I installed Lycoris Inux and it's really neat. Seem close to geting the LAN to work, but.... Then I found LinNeighborhood and maybe will make some progress, but I understand this works with Mandrake took, so may go back to mandrake to stay "traditioal", although Lycoris seems a pretty fine distro.
