I just installed MusicMatch Jukebox 7.2 (more than once, actually, from two different downloads). No obvious installation problems, but whenever I try to run the program I get an error message:

" Cannot find file -- MMInet.dll "

I found this file in the default program directory, C:\Program Files\MusicMatch\MusicMatch Jukebox. A registry search turned up no reference to MMInet.dll

Has anyone else installed this program version or seen a similar error? Any ideas?

This is most like to be a fault in MusicMatch JukeBox, or an uncompatibility with Windows 98 SE

Because, nowadays most of the 3rd party software are targetting to be compatible or be "designed for" with Windows XP, I see the support with older Windows OSes are not good as before. E.g. ACDSee 4 and 5 has trouble installing in Windows 98, and you need to have the latest Windows Installer.

Next time try to install Windows XP (as you config is pretty good for Windows XP, i wonder why u don't) and I am pretty sure it will work for you. Good Luck! :)

I will add myself as well as a person who used MusicMatch JukeBox 7.5 under Windows XP SP1. We need redkitty here, to get the latest news. :)

I hope this thread will not lead to a conflict between currently available players like Windows Media Player, WinAmp and Jet Audio etc.

Musicmatch Sux - Get Winamp ;)

true leech. musicmatch jukebox is bloatware, and possibly spyware as well. Winamp 2.81 + cdex will do everything you need.

Thanks for the replies.

No solution in sight yet, so I've given up on MusicMatch for now... MusicMatch does whiff of bloatware anyway from what little I know, but I never loaded it before... oh well, I may try an older version sometime in Win98. For now, I've decided to use WinAmp for playing mp3's (tried both versions .... I like the new WinAmp3 for its more refined interface).

While I have played around with XP, I don't have it loaded at the moment and so far have no compelling reason to use it on a mainly-for-gaming machine. There are some good reasons not to do so, though:

* XP doesn't completely support my current video or sound card... 3dfx and Aureal are both dead/unsupported now, so eventually I will replace both, but for now I love Voodoo FSAA and A3Dv2 just sounds better than a Soundblaster. It's a Betamax vs VHS thing.

* I already know that XP won't run some older games and I have a pile of them I haven't had time to play yet.

* I've spent many hours assembling a working collection of Win98 customizations and utility software.... not in a hurry to start from scratch again, thanks.

I recently acquired some swappable hard drive trays so I could back up to a removable hard drive instead of burning multiple CD's. I'm now thinking about putting my C: drive in one of them so that I can just plug a different C: drive into the front of the machine to convert it from a Win98 machine to an XP machine... completely separate OS installations rather than a dual-boot setup. I already keep all of my documents on a secondary drive to simplify backups and OS re-installs.
