Ok....so, I finally got msn 5 working...its perrrrrrty...next morning my pc speaker is beeping when someone signs on, i get mail, someone msgs, etc...I'm like grrrrr...So i go make sure that the sounds are turned on for messenger...they are...I uninstall 5 and try reinstalling it...same thing...So, tonight I uninstalled that and installed 4.7 back and still same problem...Can someone help me PLEASE...the PC beeps are sooooo annoying :blink: :o

Did you try going into the volume control by double clicking on the volume icon on the taskbar and putting a tick beside the mute button on the pc speaker.
If the proper sounds aren't working ckeck to make sure the media files are asociated with actions in messenger by going into contrl panel and sounds and audio devices

as wierd as it sounds, this happened to me too. when i checked the hardware it said there was a problem, i cant remember what i did to fix it, i think i may have updated my driver. no more annoying beeps, and if i use wmp or win amp they both play just fine can hear everything good as can can be. wierd aint it.
