Verizon Wireless' plan to buy regional cell phone company Alltel will make it the largest cell phone operator in the country (http://news.cnet.com/8301-10784_3-9960664-7.html) with more than 80 million subscribers. But for consumers, is a behemoth Verizon a boon or a beast?
