Did you try coping it over in dos?
And there is also a program out there that lets you select between different loginui.exe files(its somewere here).

i dunno why it didnt worked for you :o
i installed the latest StyleXP (version 1.01L) and in the Logon page, i clicked add new logon, and browsed for the logonui.exe and also renamed it to a new name and clicked apply. it simply worked for me :)
