The "Big Apple" vs. Cupertino's Apple
 

New York City has what it calls the GreeNYC campaign (http://nyc.gov/html/planyc2030/html/...greenyc.shtml), which is an environmental program aimed at reducing carbon emissions in the Big Apple by 30% by 2030. New York City has applied for a trademark for the logo for the program, shown above.

However, Apple has filed a "consolidated notice of opposition" to the filing.
