Hi there. Thinking of buying one and just want to know your opinions on what brand i should go for.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but does the GeForce3 produce more pixels and polygons than the eye can actually see?

Yes, she is the best of the best out there right now. However, wait and you will see huge price drops or just check out PriceWatch.com :). They have many different items for sale, or show I say index many different items for sale.

Anyhow, your purchase depends on how much cash are you willing to part with. :(

dollar for dollar I would say the ATI 8500 is worth considering even with weak driver support.

There's a great review/comparative for 21 various GeForce 2/3 cards. Hope this helps you to decide :)

I would hold off on any Geforce buying for the time being. Details about the Geforce4 just leaked out with any expected release date of end of January. Geforce4's release will send the 3's prices plummetting and make it a much more worthy buy. Personally, I wouldn't buy the Geforce2 titanium because it is missing some of the newer Nvidia features (not just faster framerates) that will be taken advantage of in upcoming games (new Doom!! new Doom!!)

Noy even just if money is an issue as the 8500 is plain beating the Geforce3 in some benchmarks (although the G3 beats the 8500 in some others).

Also to consider, how is colour accuracy and reproduction on the geforce 3s? I know up to geforce 2 they were nothing to brag about... as for ATI, they've always been very good in regards to colour and the only consumer card that produces better has been matrox. But then Matrox still produce the best colour display though their 3d is to slow for gamers. Well, not everyone is a gamer.... some do need precise colour for photoshop, etc.
