Travelers, hikers, and mountain climbers are safer now because of James Kim.

It was a year ago today (http://crave.cnet.com/8301-1_105-9829362-1.html) that Kim's body was found after he, his wife, and two daughters were stranded for more than a week in a snowy national forest in Oregon.
