I got this message in XP in the Event viewer, System:
The service System Restore Service was interrupted with the following error: Access denied The System Restore Service does not start. Somebody has an idea what causes this error? |
If You have antivirus on your system make shour its disable before creating a restore point. Also make shoure that there is no application running at the same time.
I hope this help you!! Protecteur  |
The problem i solved. I found the solution myself.
The reason was that the local SYSTEM account did not have write privilegies to the folder "System Volume Information". After changing that, System Restore Service works OK. |
Witch proofs you have to be very carefull setting NTFS permission, especialy when setting permission on system folders.
Sometimes changing permissions on folders have a irreverible negative effect on your system. Especialy when you change permissions on IIS folders or the SystemRoot folder, and don't even try it on Exchange Server folders. You'll be getting an headage comparing your permission agains another computer that still works. Believe me, I've been there :( But, glad you solved it. |
