Here is my situation:
I have a 19" MAG monitor. It has served well but now after close to four years it somehow has become to small. What do I want then. Well, I want as many colours (colors for you over there...:)) as possible, the sharpness is very important and if possible I would like equal sharpness over the whole surface. Then the stability is important too, I don't like it when size changes due to brightness variations. And flicker is not accepted, it must be able to run at 85 Hz at 1600x1200. All possible colours should be an argument for a CRT-screen, the other wishes might speak for a LCD-monitor. But then it's this with the size too, I can't afford a 21" or 22" LCD-monitor, but I can buy a 22" CRT-monitor if I save money for a period. So, do you have any experience here? Should I go and buy a Sony flatscreen grill-aparture thing or are there other better options? Other things to take into considerations? Input welcome! |
I went to flat screen lcd monitors in 1991 after a bad case of endocarditis likely caused by a depressed immune system from too much time close to high voltage monitors. Think what you wan about that, but ELF radiation is bad news. I like my 18 inch NEC MultiSync LCD 1850 even if it isn't all that large.

Hmm. I also read a few online-reviews. In one of them Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 2060u got the highest score while Sony was considered pretty good but lacked somewhat in sharpness (which is important to me).
Do you know if there are big individual differences among monitors this size? If so, do I have to see the monitor working before paying, or can I rest assured that they are all as well as the one demonstrated? |
