What can I do to fix my cd-rw. I only have 1 cd-rom in my computer it's my cd-rw. In Windows 2000 my device disapears or mistakes a data cd for a music cd. What can I do? It disapears from the device manager as well.

What burning app are you using?

What motherboard and/or soundcard are you using? I came across a similar problem a couple of days back and it would help if you posted this information.

i have got a Creative 6x4x24x CDRW just bought in 2000 Feb. but only cpla months i could use it before i got my first coaster :(
after that the chance of getting a coaster was increased and now i can't burn any CDRs. i get the error messages of "Medium Speed Error", "Write Error" etc.
i have formatted and installed windows dozens of times for this and also tried several burning apps to fix this at each time. but i got the same result.
I heard that it is a manufacturing defect or something in this type. has anybody got the same errors for this cking burner?

RE: Creative 6x4x24x. Try cleaning the lens? I'm a heavy smoker and my first TEAC lasted about 7 months before it wouldn't read any CDs. Cleaned the lens and it worked like new.
