Hi there.

What do you think about this software? Is is worth it to... errr ...buy, or should I just stick with the utilities included with XP. Just wondering what your expert opinion is.

I Have NSW 2002 and use it a lot. They advertise that their utilities work better and faster than the ones included with the OS, but then again, that could just be a marketing scheme :) Overall, I have been happy with 2002, and I am looking to upgrade to 2003 in the future.

I have used different versions of Norton Utilities since DOS days. Nowadays with NT and XP I have quit Norton. I got totally fed up with the way the Norton stuff invade your harddrive, the system and the registry. So, the only Norton thing left (installed) is Ghost (which works nice enough standalone and btw even doesn't origin from Norton). Then I have a bootable CD with Norton systemutils which I hope not to have to use.

There are other better defragment utils. There also are other antiviiri utils and registry editors

The other things like changin' recycle bin and disk doctor, well I don't miss them.

imho,

If you can get good price on the upgrade version, yes. Otherwise I wouldn't spend $$$ on the full version.

Unicorn is 100% right.
Stay away, there are plenty of better products..

I keep trying this swiss army knife things--over the years. I conclude that they don't add much value to the system.

Well Dave, the only good thing of Norton SystemWorks is you get all the Norton Producta (if you like them) all at once...: Norton AntiVirus, Norton Ghost, Norton Utilities, Norton Cleansweep etc...

As all the other members said, except for Norton AntiVirus and Ghost, I reckon the rest are childish...
I once accidently deleted a file, and also emptied the Recycle Bin, and then I couldn't recover the file by its Utilities. It is useful only if you SHIFT + DEL a file accidently. The way I did, it couldn't recover..:(

I don't think this is worth enough to spend $$$ on it, except....;)

I too agree with .unicorn.... IMHO Ghost is the only notable app... ;)
