United Nations environmental agencies have launched a virtual marketplace to bring together buyers and sellers of carbon offsets in rich and poor countries.

Through carbon trading under the Kyoto Protocol on global warming, rich countries can meet domestic emissions goals by buying carbon offsets from developing nations.
