I don't want to use style/tweak/or other programs to do this. But, I used to know a reg hack that would let me rename the recycle bin in XP. I lost this hack when I did a clean install a while back.
Anybody remember this one? Tanx! |

I think you don't have Systemworks installed ? Because if you right click on the recycle bin, you can rename it ;) I just do it :lol: |
I have Norton installed ..just right click >properties>recycle bin tab>
appeareance >title >rename... B) |
tip: just search for Recycle Bin using regedit ;)

I renamed mine after an old girlfriend: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\CLSID The Desktop Icons are located in the sub keys as follows: My Network Places: {208D2C60-3AEA-1069-A2D7-08002B30309D} My Computer: {20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D} My Documents: {450D8FBA-AD25-11D0-98A8-0800361B1103} Recycle Bin:{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} Default IE Icon: {871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D} Double click the Default value in the above keys and enter the text you desire. Right click on the Desktop and select Refresh to see the changes. To undo the changes, just right click on the Default value and select Delete. Refresh the Desktop to see that things are back to normal. Zo |

(it changes when full/empty) Nort will let you delete ALL values but the reg hack lets me set the default as a 'period' *.* which of course becomes lost in the grand scheme of things :D Tube is happy :D Thanx ALL! |
Better yet, add the option to your context menu for easy future changes:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}\ShellFolder] To add Rename to the menu, change Attributes to 50 01 00 20 To add Delete to the menu, change Attributes to 60 01 00 20 To add both Renamme & Delete to the menu, change Attributes to 70,01,00,20 To Restore the icon if it's deleted, go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\explorer\Desktop\NameSpace\{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}] and add a key named Recycle Bin To reset Windows defaults, go to [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}\ShellFolder] and change Attributes to 40 01 00 20 More edits to the context menus: [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}\ShellFolder] Add Copy to the menu, change Attributes to 41 01 00 20 Add Cut to the menu, change Attributes to 42 01 00 20 Add Copy & Cut to the menu, change Attributes to 43 01 00 20 Add Paste to the menu, change Attributes to 44 01 00 20 Add Copy & Paste to the menu, change Attributes to 45 01 00 20 Add Cut & Paste to the menu, change Attributes to 46 01 00 20 Add all Cut, Copy & Paste to the menu, change Attributes to 47 01 00 20 |
