For some reason when I turn on my computer, MSN Messenger is signing itself on by itself. I dont see anything but I get messages from people. I had MSN set to NOT startup at startup and I set it MANUAL in the services.


Does anyone know how to stop this ? Thanks.

PS I dont want to uninstall it because I use it.

hmmm, could be a few things, the messenger service isn't related to msn messenger, but net send

try tools, options, preferences, untick run this program when windows starts in msn, if you already have did that, do you have WMP9 installed? if so, messenger auto starts like you describe when you run WMP9 on some systems too, so that may be the culprit

Nope I dont have Media player 9. I have no idea why this is happening. This is some type of new feature.

Hmmm...I|Kevin|I, you could rename the messenger exe to something else, keep the .exe the same but change the name, i.e.- from msmgs.exe to ONEmsmgs.exe, then after you rename it drag a new shortcut or edit the props of the current one to point to the new file name... :o

Hope this helps some :) There are probably 20 different ways to stop it from autostarting, find the one you like best...:)
