Hi,
It sounds like hardware troubles to me. Particularily since you have had recent problems with overheating of your CPU. If you are not getting anything on your screen (i.e. no POST information) during bootup, it usually points to hardware failure. Try unplugging and reseating your CPU and make very sure there is good thermal contact with the heatsink. Frankly, it could be too late and the CPU may already be burned up. Good Luck, Tomboy |
find your motherboard modle, find a manual for that modle, and it should tell you the codes for the beeps. usually it's like certain peep for a bad ram, certain peeps for a bad vidcard, and so on.

I agree that lockup is most likely a co-incident
I have install XP slipstream SP1 .. win update has not posing any noticeable problem? It could be but I am not aware of it :-) |
Thx guys !!
I found the problem!! I don't use the original XP boot screen !! And .. with the SP1, the ntoskrnl ( the modified one ) crash MY XP Sp1 .... maybe not your's !! |
I had some problems too in the past when I change my boot screen :o
Now I don't touch that and I leave the MS boot screen intact  |
