Hi

I have read a lot about SP1 and that the EULA is updated after install which contains the following after you install SP1 but I have looked through the EULA and cannot see this particular piece of text:

"You acknowledge and agree that Microsoft may automatically check the version of the OS Product and/or its components that you are utilizing and may provide upgrades or fixes to the OS Product that will be automatically downloaded to your computer," is the new bit you'll be interested in.

Where exactly is it? I.e. between what paragraphs?

BTW - I know it's unrelated but can you sliptream SP1 into an OEM copy of XP without having problems?

Regards

Ummm...

correct me if im wrong, but didnt MS always do that with Windows Update?

I mean they check the OS version and installed components, and based on that they return a list of what updates are available...

Hi

Your probably correct but I was just asking where in the 'new' EULA does it have this new and updated text as shown above.

Internet-Based Services Components. The Product contains
components that enable and facilitate the use of certain
Internet-based services. You acknowledge and agree that
Microsoft may automatically check the version of the

and may provide upgrades or fixes to the Product that

According to the register that bit is new, I am glad I kept it bookmarked

and the way I understand it MS will be given root to check anytime not just at windows update....

and one other thing they put the same EULA in SP3 for 2000
