the first part has been covered elsewhere.
But breaks the entire windows media (and I suspect several other subsystems in the process) if you want proof - try exporting windows media from adobe premiere/vegas etc this is the fix you must insert the correct txtsetup.sif by correct - open and compare it to you original disc vs what the slipstream copy places in your slipstream dir after that do yourself and everyone else a favour and delete the wmvcore2.dl_ (a windows media 9 win9x component) out of the i386 of the slipstream dir, replace with the corrected sif and your on your way. still supports all the usual upgrade scenarios and apparently turns it native to the media center components etc from the new disc issued this week. And DOES NOT break anything and DOES install the additional components where applicable and if you take the time to create the dir tree on your slipstream iso. Good luck, happy hunting and give MS a yell and tell them to rethink this bullshit of slipping beta 9x components into a service pack |
Now that's interesting and aggravating.

I thought so too
especially after I went through the whole nonsense of a clean install and reload of apps only to fina quarter of them worked anymore. aggravating yes. despicable they;d include beta dlls in a service pack for sure but like the nt4 service packs the more new features the more they got worse and worse this is just the fix for pack 1 god knows what they'll do for pack 2 but definitely give it a run through you'll find your results are the same pre and post fix |
sorry about the typos late nite fixing this txt for everyone and testing it again and again until it unbroke everything
:) Cheers |
