Foxconn reportedly eyeing solar cell industry

Foxconn (Hon Hai Precision Industry) is said to be eyeing the solar cell industry, with Hsing C Tuan, president of Foxconn subsidiary Innolux Display, heading a team assessing the photovoltaic (PV) industry, according to the Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN).

Foxconn may enter thin-film solar cell production through Innolux's close ties with Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT), which is helping solar wafer supplier Green Energy Technology develop thin-film solar cells, the paper said. Both CPT and Green Energy belong to the Tatung Group.
