installing programs?
 

ok I decided I was going to play around with a webserver running on my home computer. Mainly so I could serve pictures to my family members and allow them to download the picture without having to resize it using photoshop.

I asked around and found that xampp would install all the basic necessities. Then I found Gallery which would create the photo gallery. But in order to allow users to zip their download cart I need to have gzip (or some zip app on the server).

I have no idea how to install anything on it. Xampp includes apache, mysql, phpmyadmin, some ftp server and mail server (which won't be used).

So how do I install or load or whatever you call it a program in apache?
