i recently formatted and installed wp pro/w sp2 on an emachines w3052 machine that previously had xp home on it, and now i cant see the net work device on the mother board. I dont wanna go out and buy another network card to fix this problem. Can anyone offer any advice on this.

Also, how do i find the driver for the windows xp pro sm bus controller. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

SM Bus controller is part of Intel Chip Set controller which is build on to the Mother board and you are going to need the INF file for it from Intel Site...

First thing I'd do is go to emachines driversite and start updating your drivers
