Registry Editor(Not Responding)
I can start REGEDIT but it just hangs. It says "not responding" on the top, and it is using around 95% CPU resources just doing nothing. Tried rebooting and got the same results. Anyone seen or heard of this problem yet? Luckily I just did a backup.
Running WinXP-SP2 on a P4-Celeron 2.6G w/1GB RAM and 120 + 60 GB ATA HDDs Thanx in advance It actually does work, but only after being stuck for abuut 2 minutes. It's still a bit worrying, since my last spyware attack affected the Reg Editor; it deleted REGEDIT.EXE! |
mikeh420,
Can you run regedt32.exe instead of the plain regedit? Give it a shot and let us know :) /JD |
Now I see what may be the problem, the last registry entry I looked at is where it starts when it opens again, and that particular entry has a lot of data and values. When I un-expanded all the entries so all you see is the 5 HKEY entries, it opens fine. Thanks all.
