Probably a stupid question but gotta try...
Just bought a WD Caviar 80 gb 7200 drive (special edition w/8mb cache) OEM version with no software for $106 @ NewEgg... I really like the MaxBlast software that came with my Maxtor 30gb for partitioning drives quickly and easily... Any reason this won't work with another brand of drive??? Or does WD have the same type of software available??? Haven't tried it yet as I want to make sure it won't screw things up on the new drive... Any opinions would be greatly appreciated... |
You can download the datalifeguard tools fre from WDC

This is probably too late  MaxBlast will recognize & identify your other drives, but not format/partition them. At least that's how it worked for us.

Thanx guys
But it worked!! 8 partitions formatted and ready to go about 5 min... :P |

Actually, the Maxblast software worked like a charm. kind of surprised me too...
Just booted with it and used like normal to partition and prepare the drive... Then used Ghost 2002 to clone partition>partition and everything worked as planned... |
Good pcdad always nice to hear a success story
