Too much ballast

THE P2P SITE thepiratebay site is in a real state following the take down by the Swedish police.


According to some users, lots of the torrents are unavailable and the web page formatting is spotty. Some pages are loading only after long delays and others were not loading at all.

Part of the problems is that thePiratebay is not running out of Sweden at the moment. It seems that the organisers have set up shop in the Netherlands. A spokesPirate says that it is also setting up mirror sites in other countries just in case the Dutch get a bit iffy about the site.

He told Wired that some of the problems were caused by the teething troubles of setting up the servers without having enough testing time. But the majority of the site was down because new users have heard about it and are trying to sign on, he said.
