Pirate retaliation, plod reckons

THE SWEDISH PLOD think that hackers who took down their website could be carrying out revenge attacks for their running off with servers belonging to the popular p2p site thepiratebay.com.


The police Web site was shut after denial of service attacks a few days after it shut down the P2P site and arrested three of its organisers. A spokesplod said a criminal investigation had been launched into the hacker attack. He reckoned it probable the attack was to avenge the closure of thepiratebay but said also that was currently just speculation.
