Google buys text search algorithm

SEARCH ENGINE e outfit, Google has just bought a new search algorithm penned by an Israeli student. According to the newspaper Haaretz, the algorithm is called Orion and works out the most relevant text on which to perform a search. It only works in English and rates the text by the quality of the site in which it appears. Ori Alon, who is doing a Phd at the University of New South Wales in Australia, works for Google. The University is also trying to flog the same algorithm to Microsoft and Yahoo. tHE inqUIRER |
