Faster DVD burner released
New generation set to 18
DVD player manufacturer Plextor is set to release a new machine that can record at speeds of 18 times. The new E-IDE PX-760A DVD recorder will be able to do its 18 times speed on single layers and a blistering ten times on a double sided DVD+R DL. It can also burn DVD-RW, DVD-VR and CD-R/W media as well. It will hit the shops for $119 USD in April of this year. There will be a USB version and an E-IDE drive. It has a 2MB buffer and uses Plextor's PowerRec technology adjusts the laser intensity and burn speed to correct impurities in the recordable media. More here. The INQuirer |
Yes...very interesting. It was announced severak weeks back, and I have been checking magazine ads for a while.

Yes, but can you buy media that will run at that speed. I find that in a stack of 16X media, sometimes i only get 8X.
|
Anyway, since i update the firmware of my DVD-burner and getting 8x,
yeah sure,it was very fast and this was ok. But I will not buy a new DVD burner only bcause it can burn at 18x! |
Yeah excatly I can burn at 16x so 18x is not a big deal. lol Plus 2mb buffer sucks. I have 4mb buffer.
