Warner Bros. to sell movies online
 

The movie giants have announced a service called In2Movies, which will distribute movies via peer to peer technology not too dissimilar to the methods used by illegal file sharers.







In a press release the company said the service will provide a secure and legal means of downloading high quality movies and television shows at a price. The service will at first be aimed at Germany, Austria and German speaking parts of Switzerland, though the company have expressed interest in making the service available globally.







Kevin Tsujihara, president of Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group said: "Our initial efforts will focus on the German market but in the months
ahead we will leverage this technology to better serve markets around
the world."







Warner Bros. seem to be approaching the anti-piracy situation from a different angle, as Mr Tujihara said: "One of the most effective weapons for defeating online piracy is providing legal, easy to use alternatives."







Downloads planned include: Batman Begins, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Friends and The O.C. amongst others.
