I'm ready to buy a cheap A4 USB scanner for around $100-130 / ?100-130.
It will be used for simple scanning tasks, some OCR, copying to printer, and some faxing to my old 56k modem. I'm considering the HP Scanjet 3500 for ?99 but before going to shop... I'd like to know the opinions and good/bad experiences of other users, with this or other brands. What do you recommend, people ? :D So prepare your posts... :P TIA HamsterX |
I have seen a few scanners being advertised around $20 American around here. They are probably crap though. But as long as it works.... :)

 :o $20 ???? Not at my side of the Atlantic ocean, I think... :(
But but probably you're right, they all look the same and as long as they work... |
I currently use a HP 4470cse and have had no problems. The scan quality is very good to excellent but not as fast as some other scanners. I purchased it for about $150 USD but I think places are selling it for around $100 USD now...dammit.
I used to have a Mustek 1200 ($69.00) and that was a pretty good scanner as well. It was probably just as good as the HP that I have now. I got rid of it because it wasn't compatible with Windows XP and the site said they would not be making drivers to make it compatible. My suggestion would be to go with a cheaper scanner since quality isn't too different (in my experience) and the only thing you will give up is a little speed. |
Same here ,
I have a Mustek 600 usb and they said "they would not be making drivers to make it compatible" :o @AsianElvis Did you try to make it working in a virtual pc ? Last edited by Bads 1 at Today at 4:25 pm |
