format c: /q - for a quick format if it is a new hdd, recommend the normal (longer time) |

Where V= Volume lable Many different ways of formatting a drive, the example above will perform a quick format and set the volume lable |
format c: /s
(Leech's post has a typo; should be a space after c:) This syntax will format c: and also transfer the system files (command.com, etc.) from the DOS floppy or hdd to the newly formatted drive, making the new drive bootable. Last edited by redkitty at Today at 12:36 am |
