For those of you in the USA, using Comcast Cable as your ISP; you know they are increasing your download speeds this summer...
I am on the "gold" tier, which means 8megs/768, and they just updated my area...Check out THESE speed test results!!

I can get those speeds! But I get them at work where we have 2 full T3 lines in our office alone. At around 5pm I get around 2.5MBytes a sec and upload close to 1MByte sec. I want those kinda speeds at home! But I would settle for Verizon FIOS with there 15/2mb plan! anyone heard about fios and when and where they want to roll out services?

wase4711 27th Aug 05 02:20 PM

FIOS info here....

yeah, I wish it was available in my area too....

Cox here has a Premier 9Mb down/1Mb up for $55 a month. Right now I am on their $40 a month Prefered plan which gets 4 to 5Mb down and 512kb up. I have no complaints about the DL speeds.... it is the crap upload cap that burns me. It kills ya if you run a server. And the klownz limit me to 40gb a month down and 10gb a month up. The Premier has a 60gb/15gb cap imposed. They do have a small business plan that is $80 a month [9Mb down/1Mb up] but NO caps imposed on limits DL or UL. And you get 3 IP addresses/Static IPs/Servers ALLOWED! When my finances get squared away I hope to get that account since my fileserver is mostly offline now sice I moved here and had to change to Cox.

I sure miss my old QWest cable I had for years where I used to live. 6Mb down/3Mb up with no caps whatsoever and running servers was no problem.
