Whatever Intel does to maintain their market share, that's its capability to do so. Just like in nature: Survival of the fittest argument. "If AMD can't fight its own battles fairly and has to go to court with a crybaby lawsuit then they are truly nothing in the chip world..."

I would like to see AMD win this one, as you can't exactly get a dell with an AMD chip in it, but then again, if they had the better chip to begin with......but then there is the side of intel with more money can bribe there way up the top and stay there, but hey I'm all for it if it will make the prices of both CPU's come down! :) i'm all about having fast stuff for as little money as possible! :) maybe this can start a price war! :) YAY, or not....

Yep, a price war would be excellent. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for one :D

i mean really i'm all for it, i personally think AMD and Intel are both nuts for charging 3 times the price for a dual core chip, I would buy to single core chips and wouldn't that accomplish the same thing? and they dont run all that much faster in Ghz....just one question is the speed for a 4800x2 2.6ghz (for example) is it that on EACH core? or total speed? if its each one then if you could make both of them do the work at the same time that one does then you would have a 5.2ghz chip, but anyway back to subject....

PRICE WAR! :) yay! maybe we can all get some good cheap chips now?

Well the thought of "price war" is almost scary. In buisness, all people want to make as much money as possible and as soon as possible by gaining as many customers as possible. With that kept in mind, then why would they start a price war? They both are already selling chips as fast as possible. So the two major companies are REALLY in CHARGE of you and I when it comes to upgrading or building. They don't have to have a price war because where else are we going to get what we need or want.

Think back here in the USA when we had gas wars and etc, gas was .31 - .36 cents a gallon. When the dust settled look where the prices went.......and it did not take long at all. So that is my reason for wondering if it would be a good idea. Now if another small time chip maker just happen to come along now as AMD did several years ago...then you just might see a difference.

As long as they got the chips then they also got the price and we don't have lots of choices.

If AMD will remember what got them where they are then there will be no need for lawyer battles. As the new chips take hold then they will almost be at the top with even more pc companies wanting that "new speed" for their new customers.
