slight problem after formatting hd?
i just formatted my hd, and during this process everything went well, except when i was finished, and the computer was at the windows xp page witht the little blue bars scrolling across the page, it went no further. i evennoticed that my monitor went from a green light to a yellow light almost indicating as if the comp was off, but the comp was infact still powered on. Itried restarting it, and it still didn't work, i tried waiting on the page, and that was of no avail...can some one recommend something for me to do

You mean you are reinstalling and this is what happens during the Windows XP setup?
|
Try this?
1. Enter bios and restore "default" settings and/or... 2. Disconect ALL printers,scanners,etc... 3. Remove all PCI cards and use onboard graphics if you got it. Or... ...reinstall again? Good luck! }---:) |
yes, disconnect EVERYTHING that isnt actually attached to the mobo directly, like printers, usb hubs, external hd's, etc, then try the re-install...
|
If you are using PCI cards you may want to remove them as well, all you need is processor, memory and graphics to start with- you can build up from there.
|
cool, will do...why do u say move everything like that though, could it possibly be a short?
|
Again: Are you trying to reinstall after the format?
|
No it is not a short, but sometimes XP will get confused trying to install itself and all of the other things we have added to the mobo that it can not continue for trying so hard.
Sometimes plugin cards will have to be removed completely and then added back one at a time with power off and then restarting and letting windows find them one at a time instead of finding several at once. Always power off, let it sit 15 -20 minutes then install the next item. GoodLuck Thanks Dudelive |
Try an XP without integrated servicepack....

I just remembered a problem I had very much like this.......I had to remove the video card and use a different one in order for it to complete the install, even though I had ran the compatiablity wizard and got the ok to install. Placed my original video card in and it found it and installed it and all was good to go.
