That's what I do. Get the SATA drivers on floppy and push F6 on installation. If it's Silicon Valley SATA on your board you have the option to prepare either SATALink drivers (ATA only) or SATARaid - don't know about other flavours.

I have 2 WD SATA 10,000 PRM Raptors setup as a RAID 0 on my main PC, with no probs, except I cant find any software to make a perfect image backup of a RAID 0 SATA setup..
Very Very fast, and no problems with windows SP2 at all; as said before, just get those drivers on a floppy, so if you format, you'll need to push F6 in the beginning, and load the drivers from the floppy disk before you re-install Windows...

Is it really necessary to have a floppy? I bought a new Western Digital 200Gig SATA 150 and used my Windows XP incl. SP2 CD. I guess the SATA drivers are already coming with SP2? Can somebody please confirm?

Cheers,

Hi Mcored
The Sata drivers should be on your mobo CD.
I believe you can only install these F6 drivers off a diskette.

Hi moen, this is an Intel D875 mobo. I haven't used my mobo CD to install SATA drivers. I already had a Western Digital 200 GB SATA, I didn't use driver CDs/floppies for that either. I don't have a Floppy Drive in the first place. What may have happened?

Actually, Sata Drivers supposedly are universal, but they have been updated several times over the last couple of years. Apparently the latest is ICH5, and there is a FAQ about GHost and Sata drivers on Symantec's website.
I am looking for a Ghost.exe From Ghost 8.2 Corp, because it is compatible with this ICH5.
I got that info from Computer Boulevard techie in Winnipeg.

Well, I looked at the floppy that I use to re-load drivers after a format, and it says Nvidia Raid SATA drivers....
I know there are 2 drivers on it NForce 3 SATA drivers is the name of the floppy...

You may or may not need to load drivers for your particiular MOBO
I have an MSI Neo Platinum..
And Moen, if you find that version of Norton Ghost, let me know, as I would love to be able to make a real image backup!!
