How to setup MacTCP for a router

I just got an old Quadra 610 (with 7.5.3) for free from a friend. I am slightly familiar in setting up MacTCP, but I'm unable to make it connect to my Linksys router for Internet access. I bought a AAUI-15 transceiver to connect it to my router via RJ45 and the lights are on on the router and the AAUI-15. The addresses available from the router are 192.168.1.100 to 254, so I tried to manually assign it x.x.x.105 as well as letting it be dynamically assigned. Still nothing. Any ideas or suggestons?

Thanks in advance...

Do you have the ability to have DHCP on the old Mac.

/me so happy about the Mac. :):)

if your establishing a static IP, then you need to enter it both in the router and on the tables of the computer.

Make sure that OpenTransport is installed, its now a part of the OS, but was a download before OS 8, etc.
