How to send multiple copies of emails in exchange?

Ok, here's the problem..................

I've setup a USER in MS Exchange 2000 on a Windows 2000 Server machine, I've also created another account as an EXTERNAL USER with a SMTP email address that doesnt belong to the domain in Exchange

I then set the system to automatically forward copies internall to the exchange mailbox and also email a copy externally to the external email address i'd setup

However, what seems to be happening is this..........

Emails sent from withing the exchange domain
(e.g. emails with addresses as jakesnake.com)
all copy to the exchange mailbox AND a copy gets emailed to the external smtp address (which happens to be a hotmail.com address)

BUT

Whenever and external email is received, it copies it to the exchange mailbox BUT a copy doesn't then get sent tot he hotmail.com address?

Basically, im trying to connect a blackberry up so that i can get my emails whereever i am on the go, but in order to integerate it to exchange the software is gonna cost 1,000's and this is the best elagent solution and the one i want to use.

Q. So why does internal emails get copied to both accounts but anything externally only gets copied to the exchange mailbox?

thx in advance for any help

jake :)

First thing that comes to mind is something to do with a remote MX record... though my experience with Exchange mail is limited at best.

So... you want to have..
you@jakesnake.com hosted on a exchange server to forward to you@hotmail.com?
This would basically duplicate mail that is received, but not sent out.

I think I might need to be corrected??

EDIT: Re-read your ending sentence.. a blackberry.. (/me have no experience with those. :( ) Sorry....

what do you mean about the remote MX record??
- doesn't exchange allow emails externally to be forwarded??

i can email to the forwarding address directly with no problems it just when i add it part of the duplicate emails

the quote about a Blackberry is basically these NEW moblie phones which check your emails on the go. there is some software (i forget the name) which can eb installed alongside exchange to allow full integration in the server but i dont want to compromise the security so i just want to forward all email that are addressed to "you@jakesnake.com" to "you@hotmail.com" as you mentioned above

its basically a straight copy when ANY internal / external emails are received

thx

Solution that fixed the problem:

Code:

Allow Automatic Forward in ESM -> Global Settings ->
Internet Message Formats -> Default -> properties -> Advanced.
