default wallpaper path changed!
as we all know, the default wallpaper path is windows/web/wallpaper
suddenly, when I try to change my wallpaper in the display properties, my path is documents and settings/mypictures/ that causes a very long delay when trying to change wallpaper.. I have tried to reset the path back to where it should be, but it keeps on going back to the \mypictures folder... I assume there is a registry hack to fix this; any ideas? thanks so much! |
Wasie try this (the step in bold and underlined in particular):
-------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now start Regedit.exe.
<LI>"ScreenSaveTimeOut"="60" (This will enable the screensaver after 1 minute of no activity.) <LI>"SCRNSAVE.EXE"=".scr" (Here you will replace the name of the screen saver logon.scr with the name of your company or your personal screensaver eg. Tomjerry.scr.) <LI>"Wallpaper"="c:winntMy wallpaper.Bmp" (As it suggests, the name of wallpaper with the complete path.) <LI>"TileWallpaper"="0" (Change this value to 1 in case you want to tile your wallpaper.) That's it. Restart your machine you're set. <LI>------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hope that helps some :) /JD |
I'll try that JD, but I think all that does it change the "default" wallpaper, NOT the default path...
Thanks so much, man! |
Yah man but if the default paper is changed, along with the default path, you should start up in the aforementioned path and have your original ones back ;)

one would think so, but it doesn't work!
something else must be screwed up in the registry..its off to Google I go! |
Hey Wase - have you tried going to the desktop tab and browsing to the folder that you want as a default - choosing any background file e.g. GIF or JPG - from the folder that you want as the default then rebooting and changing to another background to see what becomes the default folder? Rebooting is the key IMHO.

hi richard;
yes, I have done that, and it keeps returning to the damn/mypictures folder, insted of windows/web/wallpaper.. I found 2 places in the registry that referred to wallpaper, but even changing those hasnt helped... |
