Microsoft to Port WinFS to Windows XP
 

Microsoft may not be willing to talk file-system futures, but it is working to back-port its future file-system technology to Windows XP.

Mary Jo Foley over at Microsoft Watch reports that WinFS is going to get the same Windows XP back-port treatment as Avalon and Indigo.

According to her sources, Microsoft is already working on the back-port and is planning to provide an update on the technology at this year's Professional Developers Conference (PDC) in September.
