Windows Media Player 10 -> No Video?

All of a sudden WMP9 stopped playing video although I could still hear the sound and the slider was moving and also visualisations have stopped playing when the player is full screen and it seems to use a lot of memory sometimes.

I have upgraded to WMP10 but this has not solved these issues :(

Any ideas?

Thanks
Robin

Try installing extra codecs to solve the video but no sound problem. That won't help with the visualisation problem, reistall your graphics card driver to try and solve that- i had a similar problem not long ago, turns oyt it was a "bad install" of the ATI drivers.

If that still does not work try deleteing both registry keys.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer

Warning: You will loose all settings so you might want to back up. ;)

Also when reinstalling ATI drivers be sure to use Driver Cleaner Pro 1.0 first. ;)

@ war...
This Driver Cleaner Pro???
Is it specific to any or some progs or can it work for various drivers?
I would appreciate a bit of info or a website where it is explained.
Thanks

Driver Cleaner is a program which helps you to remove parts of drivers that are left after uninstalling the old drivers. The program is for ATI, nVidia, Creative, Realtek, SIS, 3Dfx, S3 and more drivers. First you need to uninstall the drivers from the control panel, then reboot. After rebooting, run the program. If you really want a good description of what steps you should take, then you really need to read the readme file included in the zip file and installation as it contains a detailed step by step description. The program also fully supports windows themes and other kind of themes.

Thanks Cactus, didn't think of that as the secondary monitor is attatched but unplugged at the moment - however this seems to be working at the moment now.

Still can't play video so will try the steps above.
Thanks
Robin

Is there a place to download a Windows Server 2003 version of WMP 10 as when I tried to upgrade it said it wasn't for this version of Windows but then SP1 (RC1) upgraded it to version 10
