The Portable Mac OS X Geek
Who says you can't run Mac OS X on a Pocket PC? Austrian Mac consultant and columnist Teddy the Bear manages it. Whether he's wandering the Macworld show floor in San Francisco or sitting on a beach in southern Spain, he can call up his Mac in Vienna. Thanks to a remote, wireless connection, OS X runs as though it were installed on his Fujitsu Siemens handheld.
"No one believes me when I tell them I can do this. They think it is a screenshot," said the tall Austrian, who asked to be identified only by his nom de plume. "I can do whatever I can do with my Mac at home." Teddy's Pocket Loox 720, which costs about $700 but is not available in the United States, has built-in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Thanks to near-ubiquitous Wi-Fi access, especially in Europe, Teddy is able to call up his PowerBook at home. ![]() ![]() |
